前言
Preface
工笔画最能考验艺术家的技法,其精细的笔墨表现,通常很难让人与超然物外、纯净空灵的意境联系起来,而毛嘉通过墨韵、留白和构图,恰恰呈现了这样一个“太虚幻境”,本次展览集中展出他《贤者之石》《太虚幻境》《五色石》等系列的新作。在毛嘉的作品中,可以清晰地感受到他对不同风格和形式的探究和融合。从最初的传统工笔人物画开始,毛嘉展示了他精湛的绘画技巧和对传统文化的深刻理解,同时也逐渐展现出对西方艺术形式的好奇和探索,并将这两者糅合,通过不同的系列作品呈现出来。随着作品系列的过渡和转变,毛嘉的创作逐渐走向多样化和极富个人风格的发展道路。他笔下的太湖石等自然符号突破了传统绘画的局限,呈现出简洁而富有现代感的几何意味。通过平面化的处理手法、简约的构成形式、洗练的线条和淡雅而富有诗意的色彩,毛嘉的创作愈加具有纯粹感和神秘感,不同系列的作品营造出一个层次丰富、虚实相间、细腻又饱含情感的精神世界。
Gongbi, a careful realist technique in Chinese painting, requires drawing with fine lines first to represent the exaggerated likenesses of the objects and then adds washes of ink and color layer by layer so as to approach the perfection of exquisiteness and fine art. Therefore, Gongbi painting is the most test of an artist's technique, as its intricate brushstrokes often make it difficult to connect with a transcendent, ethereal, and pure artistic conception or “mindscape.” However, through his artistic composition and by virtue of the blank space and the rhythm of ink in the paintings, Mao Jia presents a breathtaking “mindscape.” This exhibition focuses on his recent series of works such as “the Stone of the Sage,” “The Land of lllusion,” “Five Color Stones,” etc. These works reveal that he explores and merges different styles and forms. In his early Gongbi figure paintings, Mao Jia showed superb painting skills which embodies his understanding of traditional art and culture. Later, his creations showed his curiosity and exploration of Western modern art forms. Viewing the works in the exhibition, we will find that he has developed a diverse and personal path by blending traditional Chinese art forms with modern Western art forms. He depicts traditional Chinese painting subjects such as Taihu Lake stones, but his works break through the limitations of traditional painting and present pure and modern geometric meanings. Through transformation of the subjects for a visual effect of flatness, by virtue of geometric compositions, fine lines, and dispassionate elegant colors, Mao Jia's creations become more and more pure and semantically dense. His different series of works open up a spiritual world that is between virtual and real, rich in layers, delicate and full of affection.
毛嘉在色彩运用、空间经营上的巧思和深意,展现出一种新的文人情调和审美趣味,为作品赋予了绝佳的感染力。他的近期创作既包含了对传统古典美学的尊重和理解,又融入了现代的构成理念。毛嘉对色彩的敏锐感知和创新意识,正体现了这样一种具有独特审美视角和文化积淀的创作风范。
Mao Jia's ingenuity and ineffable meaning in the use of color and space management reflect a new literati sentiment and aesthetic taste. His recent work encompasses both an understanding of traditional Chinese aesthetics and a modern compositional concept. His keen perception of color, as well as his innovative consciousness developed on his sensibilities, embodies a unique creative style full of cultural accumulation.
毛嘉曾求学于中央美术学院中国画学院,经过传统绘画技法的专业训练后,结合自身的艺术创作实践,在水墨、重彩、浅绛、工笔、写意、白描等诸多风格中做出了取舍,并融合人物画、山水画、花鸟画等题材,形成具有独特韵味的“新工笔画”风格。自2012年毕业以来,毛嘉多次参加北京、上海、杭州、深圳、香港等地举办的水墨画、工笔画等主题性展览,并在深圳举办个展。期间,毛嘉数次获得艺术奖项,其作品被中央美术学院、关山月美术馆、嘉德艺术中心等多家艺术机构收藏。
Mao Jia graduated in 2012 from the School of Chinese Painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. After being trained for years in traditional painting techniques, he heeded the call of his soul and made trade-offs in many styles such as ink and wash, bold color and ink, light color, Gongbi, freehand drawing, and sketching, and integrated figure painting, landscape painting, flower and bird painting, etc., forming a “new Gongbi painting” style with a unique charm. He has participated in many exhibitions in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and other places, and has held solo exhibitions in Shenzhen. During this period, Mao Jia won several art awards, and his works were collected by many art institutions such as the Museum of Art in Central Academy of Fine Arts, Guan Shanyue Art Museum in Shenzhen, Guardian Art Center, etc.
近年来,深圳美术馆进一步加大推进中国当代青年画家的培养扶持,深圳美术馆(新馆)开放后,以“立足本土,面向世界;立足时代,面向未来”为学术方向。此次毛嘉展览的举办,即为深圳美术馆关注中国当代青年艺术家的创作现状、关注当代工笔画发展的具体举措,努力对推动中国艺术发展做出贡献。
In recent years, Shenzhen Art Museum has further strengthened its efforts to support young contemporary Chinese artists, and develops with the academic orientation being “based on the local and facing the world; based on the times and facing the future.” This exhibition is a concrete step by Shenzhen Art Museum to present the creative status of Chinese young contemporary artists and the development of contemporary Gongbi painting, which will surely contribute to the development of art in China.
