赛森艺术空间欣然宣布,艺术家钟乐星个展《亲密方式》将于7月12日开幕。展览将展出钟乐星近期创作的多件绘画作品,展览由独立策展人王凯梅策划,将持续进行到8月12日。
Saison Art Space is pleased to announce the opening of artist Zhong Lexing's solo exhibition, Intimate Mode, on July 12th. Featuring the body of works from Zhong Lexing's recent productions, the exhibition is curated by independent curator Wang Kaimei and will run until August 12th.
推拿术是一种古老的中医疗法,建立在阴阳五行、脏腑经络等中医理论上,运用手法刺激人体经络、穴位,以达到调和气血、平衡脏腑功能、祛除疾病的目的;推拿图系列是艺术家钟乐星以中医临床教材中的推拿术手法图示为摹本创作的绘画作品。在将这些以传道授业解惑为由的示意图向当代艺术的转译过程中,图与文的背道相驰冲撞出的正是钟乐星的艺术中的可读性和可视性。
Chinese Massage is based on Chinese medical theories of yin and yang, using hand techniques to stimulate human bodies in order to get rid of diseases. The Chinese Massage Series is a body of paintings created by Zhong using the illustrations of massage techniques in text books for clinical practices as his source of inspiration. What makes these paintings interesting enough to look at lies exactly at the translation between the two sources.

在钟乐星通常超大尺幅的画布上,明亮、对撞的大色块背景衬托出推拿术的姿态、手法以及治愈功能在身体与身体的短暂接触下,陌生关系发酵的亲密模式。定格在粗粝颜料中的身体的局部,静止的动作散逸出亲昵与离散,舒适与艰涩的矛盾氛围,一眼看去怪诞,但又不失精准地捕获到观众的好奇心和想象力。推拿术成为钟乐星在解释世界和认知自我的路途中依赖的喻体,作为艺术家,他也在宽阔的画面上寻找着色彩、线条、轮廓等等绘画性的决定因素相互碰撞的亲密关系,和与艺术史的前辈们的交流对话。
On Zhong's often very large format paintings, he is bold in using bright and contrast colors as background for presenting the intimate gestures and techniques of Chinese massage therapy. During the process, the brief contacts of two strangers’bodies fermented into a strange kind of intimacy. Nevertheless, they never fail to capture the curiosity and imagination of the viewers. The art of massage has become a metaphor for Zhong to interpret his understanding of the world around him and his self-reflection. The elements of painting from color, line and form which are decisive for the making of a painting also becomes his way of operating dialogues with the artists he admires in the history of art.

与推拿图展示艺术家对古代中医学问的当代审视一样,钟乐星的“毛笔画系列”的创作也同样根植于他对中国传统文化的重新提炼。远离工笔画对世界的唯美描摹,钟乐星的毛笔画中聚合了各种笔端与画布上短促接触留下的碎笔和断面,组合成画面上错位的花鸟,虚化的风景。宋人笔下小品雅集的细腻情被大风吹起,在钟乐星粗粝的颜料,稚拙的线条中跳舞。就如“推拿图”中被悬置的身体愕然不响的状态,“毛笔画”再次加深了亲密接触转为戛然止步的刹那间,意念被石化的肉身困顿。终究,绘画是描绘谜团般的世界的谜团本身。
In the same way as the Chinese Massage series is related to Zhong's interests in Chinese medicine, the Brush Painting Series is also rooted in Zhong's reexamination of traditional Chinese culture. Zhong's brush paintings are a collection of broken brushstrokes and sections left behind by various brushstrokes in short contact with the canvas. In Zhong's brushworks, the delicate feeling of the ancient Song Dynasty's brushworks are replaced by coarse pigments and rough lines. They deepen the moment when the intimate contact turns into an abrupt stop, and the mind is trapped in the petrified physical body. After all, painting is the enigma itself that depicts the enigmatic world.

在丹麦哲学家克尔凯郭尔《或此或彼》的论述中,嘲笑世界的荒诞是令人沮丧的,为此哭泣也让人难过。嘲笑或是哭泣,钟乐星的绘画中悬置在或此或彼的氛围提供给当代人用身体动作做为抵抗,埋藏在破损和不适中与世界相处的亲密方式。
Danish philosopher Kierkegaard said that it is frustrating to laugh at the absurdity of the world, and sad to cry about it. Laughing or crying, the either/or atmosphere in Zhang's paintings offers us an intimate way to be in the world while keeping on resisting through bodily gestures and actions. 钟乐星 现生活和工作在上海。他通过对传统医学类画谱的使用,异化了示意图的叙事空间。其作品不断重复接触、触摸(touch)核心主题,但又完全避免线性的故事线索。他把原本的故事撕裂、去呈现了关于身体和遭遇的个人陈述,唤起新的视觉体验。钟乐星于2014年获得约翰莫尔绘画奖(中国)。作品曾在各项重要展览中展出,曾为2014年英国利物浦驻地艺术家,2020年约翰摩尔最佳观众奖赞助人。
