元美术馆欣然宣布,将于2024年9月24日至11月24日特别呈现大型群展“是日蓝花”,由袁佳维担纲策展人。
韩裔德国哲学家韩炳哲在《大地颂歌:花园之旅》里描述了自己在园艺工作中侍弄“蓝花”时产生的哲学思考,同时结合色彩理论阐释了其浪漫化的本质。“蓝花”(blaue blume)象征着永恒的憧憬、呼唤着激情与使命,既体现了对无限的形而上渴望,又夹杂着诱惑、欲望和虚无——尤其针对蓝的外表本身而言。时至今日,蓝花仍是西方艺术史脉络中经久不衰的主题。美国诗人玛吉·尼尔森(Maggie Nelson)亦曾进行类似表达,蓝的特别之处在于它孤独又崇高,这种摇摆不定的气质指向了怀旧的未来。籍此,群展“是日蓝花”试图以此意象为引,考察不同代际的本土与国际艺术家实践中切近蓝花的情感观念,或与蓝本身有关的形式视阈与生态思辨。
Yuan Art Museum is pleased to presen “A Blue-Flowering Day” from 24 September to 24 November 2024, a group exhibition curated by Evonne Jiawei Yuan.
South Korean-born, German philosopher Byung-Chul Han, in his book Praise to the Earth: A Trip to the Garden, describes his philosophical exploration while tending to the genre of “blue blossom” in his gardening work, and elaborates upon its romanticized essence through color theory. As a symbol of eternal aspiration that calls to one’s passion and vocation, “blaue blume” not only embodies the metaphysical longing for the infinite, but also alludes to the lure and desire, or even nothingness – especially concerning its rare appearance. To this day, the blue flower remains an enduring motif in Western art. American poet Maggie Nelson made a similar presentation in her lyrical essay Bluets. The special part about blue is that it is solitary yet exalted, projecting a field oscillating between nostalgia for a distant memory and compassion for futurity. Building on such imagery, the group exhibition entitled “A Blue-Flowering Day” attempts to examine works by local and international artists of various generations, which brings forth some simple yet profound concepts of the elusive emotion aroused by the blue flower, or the visual threshold of the particular color and the speculative ecologies around.

About the Curator
袁佳维 来自上海的写作者与策展人。她本科毕业于复旦大学文物与博物馆学系,后就读于伦敦大学考陶德艺术学院,获艺术史硕士学位,以及建筑联盟学院,获历史与批判思维专业硕士学位。目前研究兴趣涉及当代艺术的建筑媒介、(后)现代空间观念、边界美学及地理政治学相关。近期策划的群展包括“即席之美”(ASE基金会,上海,2023)、“流向诸土”(贝浩登x缇干,北京,2023)、“缠缠缠绕——卡罗尔·波维(Carol Bove)、胡晓媛、阿丽佳·柯维德(Alicja Kwade)”(Longlati基金会,上海,2023)、“坚决复习非生产性建筑的标准(上辑:固态模具;下辑:液态循环)”(长征独立空间,北京,2022–23)等。共同策划的群展包括“艺术的朋友——中国新世代收藏家展览”(油罐艺术中心,上海,2023)、“朦胧自新——何麦克、禤善勤、赖辉明、苏予昕”(白立方,香港,2023)等。2021至23年兼任Longlati基金会写作者收藏委员会(上海)主任与客席策展人期间,她曾带领团队策划艺术家个展包括“马秋莎:汝肤之境/镜”(2022)、“劳瑞·普罗沃斯特(Laure Prouvost):园林剧场与人类世的怪物寓言”(2022)等。2022年由她发起于上海的策展实践与跨学科研究事务所totalab曾联合the Soil Collection举办群展“迅疾传播:僵尸、多重生命与幸存者之爱”。今年初她重返北京,由她担当执行策展人的群展“共贯与多元:当代绘画艺术新样态”呈现于中国美术馆。与此同时,她策划了画廊周北京2024新势力单元主题群展“风的内侧”。
Evonne Jiawei Yuan is a writer and curator from Shanghai. She graduated from Fudan University with B.A. in Museology, The Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London with M.A. in History of Art, and the Architectural Association School of Architecture with M.A. in History & Critical Thinking. Recent curations include “By Virtue of Situated Compromise” (ASE Foundation, Shanghai, 2023), “A Tie to All the Earth” (Perrotin in collaboration with teagan:, Beijing, 2023), “Steadfastly Revise For the Standards in Nonproductive Construction (Part I: Solid Molds; Part II: Liquid Circulates)” (Long March Independent Space, Beijing, 2022–23), “Entangled, Ensnared, Entwined – Carol Bove, Hu Xiaoyuan, Alicja Kwade” (Longlati Foundation, Shanghai, 2023), etc. Co-curations include “Friends in the Arts: Exhibition of Chinese Collectors’ New Contemporaries” (TANK, Shanghai, 2023), “New Moroism – Michael Ho, Chris Huen Sin-Kan, Timothy Lai, Su Yu-Xin” (White Cube, Hong Kong, 2023), etc. Current research interests include the architectural media in-and-of contemporary art, (post)modern spatial concepts, border aesthetics and its geopolitics. She was Guest Curator of Longlati Foundation and Head of its Writers’ Acquisition Committee from 2021 to 2023, who led the launching of solo exhibitions “Ma Qiusha: The Mirror(-scape) of Your Skin” (2022), “Laure Prouvost: Theatergarden and A Be(a)stiary of the Anthropocene” (2022), etc. She is also the founder of totalab, an independent curatorial practice in Shanghai, where she curated “Going Viral: Zombies, Pluribiosis, and Love of the Living Dead” with works from the Soil Collection (2022). Earlier this year, she returned to Beijing, where she served as Executive Curator of “One and All: New Artistic Styles of Contemporary Painting” at the National Art Museum of China and Curator of “The Inner Side of the Wind,” the Up&Coming Sector of Gallery Weekend Beijing 2024.
