“置身于这近乎无政府主义的复调的语言生态，昼夜不停息的海浪让视野的背景永恒颤动，而酷热令人不得不放慢脚步甚至完全静止 -- 我失去了关于知识、时间与生产的尺度，我所习得的语言不能表述在海上被雨淋的奇异的宁静，我开始创造新的语言。

回到布鲁克林的地下室之后，地表的坚硬让我眩晕。那晚我做了一个梦：梦到要离岛，突然要做open studio，我写好了东西可没准备好表演的心情。有人告诉我有甜甜圈，吃下去没有味道。一直摇摇晃晃，我不知道是这个房间在离开岛，还是这个岛在离开海，还是我将离开这个房间。”

常羽辰个展“珊瑚辞典（60句）”将在2024年9月21日于北京公社开幕，开幕当天下午五点艺术家将带来表演性导览。敬请期待。

Beijing Commune is thrilled to announce the opening of “Coral Dictionary (60 Sentences),” Chang Yuchen's first solo exhibition with the gallery, on 21 Sep 2024. The artist will give a performative tour at the opening at 5:00 pm. Please save the date.

"In an ecology of almost anarchic and polyphonic language, the incessant waves, day and night, endlessly quiver the landscape in the eyes; the heat compels a slowing down or even a stillness. I have lost the scales of knowledge, time, and production. The acquired language cannot articulate that serenity and solitude of being rained on at sea. Creating a new language, so I commence.

Back in my basement in Brooklyn, the solid ground made me dizzy. That night I had a dream, a dream about the day of having an open studio and leaving Dinawan approaching. I'd written some texts but wasn't in the mood to perform. I was told there were donuts, and so I gobbled. They taste insipid. It kept shaking, and I didn't know if it was the room departing the island, or the island leaving the sea, or it was me who was leaving the room."

常羽辰1989年出生于中国山西，2011年毕业于中央美术学院摄影专业，2013年毕业于芝加哥艺术学院研究生院版画专业，目前工作生活于美国纽约。常羽辰的工作方式是游离的——如纺织般写作，如翻译般绘画，如待客般教书，如蒲公英播撒种子般做书和出版。

常羽辰的作品展出于北京双年展 (2023)。她的个展举办地包括北京公社、纽约Assembly Room、纽约Fou Gallery。她的作品曾展出于纽约Artists Space、纽约Amant、北戴河UCCA沙丘美术馆、上海当代艺术博物馆、纽约Hesse Flatow、香港Para Site藝術空間,、香港大馆、北京中央美术学院美术馆、北京今日美术馆等。常羽辰是纽约Poetry Project策展基金，华宇青年奖评委会大奖，以及Lumiarts艺术基金的获得者。她参与的驻地项目包括Smack Mellon, Asymmetry艺术基金会, 马萨诸塞州当代艺术博物馆, 纽约艺术与设计博物馆, Robert Blackburn版画工作室等。她的写作曾出版于黑齿杂志，燃点，Art in Print。常羽辰目前任教于费城艺术大学。常羽辰的作品被上海当代艺术博物馆、芝加哥艺术中心设计学院和今日美术馆等机构收藏。

Chang Yuchen was born in 1989 in Shanxi, China. She received her BFA in Photography from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (China) in 2011 and her MFA in Printing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (U.S.) in 2013. She currently lives and works in New York. She works in an interdisciplinary manner - writing as weaving, drawing as translation, teaching as hospitality, commerce as social experiments, and publishing as a dandelion spreading its seeds.

Chang Yuchen has participated in Beijing Art Biennale (2023). Her solo exhibitions have been held at Beijing Commune (Beijing), Assembly Room (New York), and Fou Gallery (New York). Her work has been shown at Artists Space (New York), Amant (New York), UCCA Dune (Beidaiha), Power Station of Art (Shanghai), Hesse Flatow (New York), Para Site (Hong Kong), Taikwun (Hong Kong), CAFA Art Museum (Beijing), Today Art Museum (Beijing), etc. She was a recipient of Kahn | Mason SIP Fellowship, Poetry Project Curatorial Fellowship, Huayu Youth Award Grand Jury Prize, Ruth and Harold Chenven Foundation Grant and Luminarts Fellowship. She was an artist in residence at Smack Mellon, Asymmetry Art Foundation, MASS MoCA, Museum of Art and Design, NARS x Governors Island, Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, Textile Arts Center. Yuchen has written for publications including Heichi Magazine, Press and Fold, Art in Print, Randian, and she currently teaches at University of the Arts. Her works have been collected by Power Station of Art (Shanghai), Art Center College of Design (CA) and Today Art Museum (Beijing), etc.
