The soloexhibition ‘Head Sounds’ by the artistic duo MSR FCJ is now open at Gallery daSein.

As the anniversary exhibition, ‘Head Sounds’ features artists' latest works on canvas and paper. The exhibition draws inspiration from the concepts of fugue and counterpoint, two common genres and techniques in music. Within the strongly anti-style creations of the artistic duo MSR FCJ in the exhibition, various linear “scribbles" enter a new context—in modulation or dissonance— with a clear yet ambiguous artistic volition. As Italo Calvino describes, a certain "lightness" stands in contrast to the dull and heavy world. The "lightness of extraction" leaps upwards, resembling a form of deconstruction of past "styles."

The exhibition will will last until December 30th.

MSR FCJ (Mike S Redmond and Faye Coral Johnson) have been collaborating as an artistic duo since 2006. They currently live and work in the U.K. Mike S Redmond, born in 1987, holds a Master's degree from the Royal College of Art, graduating in 2011. Faye Coral Johnson, born in 1988, earned her Bachelor's degree from the Manchester School of Art in 2011.

Under the large scale of comics, MRS FCJ push experimental ideas of lo-fi making through a collaborative process that they approach with playful spontaneity. Recent solo exhibitions include: Happy I Have Your Head, Golsa Gallery, 2024; Puff & Watch, Andys Gallery, Stockholm, 2023; Pap Er Popper Sound, Simchowitz Gallery, Los Angeles, 2023; Cartoon Moon, Andys Gallery, Stockholm, 2021; Bubbling Pitch, HOME Mcr, U.K, 2020; Bum Steer Heap, V1 Gallery Copenhagen, 2018. They have been awarded artist residencies at Cape Town Art Residency, Cape, 2023; IASPIS, Sweden, 2022; Hospitalfield House, Scotland, 2019; Bibliothek Andreas Züst, Switzerland, 2017. Recent publication: Bubbling Pitch, Dreaming About Worms Again and The Green Stranger.
