油罐艺术中心欣然宣布呈现艺术家 托马·勒烨（Thomas Lerooy）中国个展“光”。展览将于2024年9月21日开幕，持续展出10月27日。

TANK的项目空间呈拱形，具有工业建筑的特征。本次比利时艺术家托马斯·勒罗伊以“光”为主题，将其作为场域特定性绘画创作的容器。观众既可以选择从室外空间逐渐接近它，也可以选择从观察画作细节开始逐渐拉开距离，分别体会“光”在宏观与微观，大自然与城市景观中的差异。七幅小型绘画作品色彩鲜艳、笔触细腻，被安置于七个色圈内——六个彩色，一个白色，它们分别象征着“光”的不同面向。它们的不同组合又将塑造出人类社会两种不同的色彩模型——RGB与CMYK，分别对应着人类在今天在数字屏幕和印刷中常用的色标。捕捉或再现光是不可能的，但光的化身——色彩，却各自独立，被人类不断混合，表现，再现，像聚光灯一样留在墙上。

托马·勒烨（Thomas Lerooy）（1981 年出生于比利时罗埃斯拉尔）在比利时布鲁塞尔生活和工作。托马·勒烨的作品具有内在的二元性：它既吸引又排斥，既可辨认又疏远，既幽默又严肃，既亲密又怪诞。无论勒烨是绘画、雕塑还是绘画，他总是在寻找媒介或主题的极限。他神秘的作品挑战观众的逻辑，并将解释留给他们的想象力。他使用可识别的主题，并对其进行操纵，从而破坏。在过去的 15 年里，勒烨以其雕塑和绘画而闻名。他的画作是出于必要而最近发展起来的。勒烨偶然发现了他疯狂的绘画技术的极限以及在青铜作品中重力所施加的限制。他探究并突破绘画的密码，它表现为抽象与具象、锐利与朦胧、结构与平滑之间的张力。他们轻松愉快，同时又充满活力，因此能够正确地看待自己和他们所来自的现实。

TANK Shanghai is pleased to present “Light”, Thomas Lerooy’s solo exhibition. The exhibition opens on September 21, 2024 and runs through October 27,2024.

The arched project space of TANK, with its industrial architectural features, serves as the setting for Thomas Lerooy's exhibition on the theme of "Light". Seven small paintings are rendered in vibrant colors and delicate brushstrokes. These works are placed within seven color circles - six in color and one in white - each symbolizing different facets of light. Their various combinations form two different color models commonly used in contemporary society - RGB and CMYK, representing digital screens and print respectively. Although it is impossible to fully capture or reproduce light, its manifestation - color - is constantly being mixed, expressed and recreated by humans, yet the circles remain distinct, like spotlights illuminating a wall.

Thomas Lerooy, born in Roeselare in 1981, now lives and works in Brussels.

The oeuvre of Thomas Lerooy is characterized by an inherent duality: it attracts and repels at the same time, it is recognizable yet alienating, it is humorous and serious, intimate as well as grotesque. Whether Lerooy draws, sculpts or paints, he is always searching for the limits of his medium or his subject. His enigmatic works challenge the logic of the viewer and leave the interpretation to their imagination. He uses recognizable motifs that he maniplates and thus undermines. He investigates and breaks through the codes of painting, which manifests itself in a tension between abstraction and figuration, sharpness and haze, structure and smoothness. They are light-hearted and charged at the same time, and thus put themselves and the reality from which they arise into perspective.
