Don’t Worry About Tomorrow (2024)

《不要为明天担忧》是一段用安装在摩托车头盔上的行车记录仪拍摄的录像，摩托车也是阎实最近创作经常使用的媒介。艺术家选取了北京某个路段进行拍摄，并且将维修摩托车时换下的废弃机油和树叶混合，涂抹在一块棉布上，用这块棉布拓印了此路段一些石头上雕刻的文字。

"Don’t Worry About Tomorrow" is a video shot with a car recorder mounted on the motorcycle helmet. Yan Shi has been using motorcycle a lot in his recent works. The artist chose a certain road in Beijing for the filming. He then mixed discarded motorcycle oil with leaves, smearing them on a piece of cotton cloth, which was then used to make rubbings of the words carved on several stones along the road.

Coin Warrior (2009)

《硬币武士》是2009年在高地画廊的首次个展上的装置作品。作品包含十三块小石头，这些石头都是从附近商业艺术机构的门口或院子里捡来的，下面用钢丝吊着两小袋硬币。

This installation was part of Yan Shi’s first solo exhibition at Highland Gallery in 2009. It consist of thirteen small stones collected from nearby commercial art institutions' entrances or yards, with two small bags of coins hanging below by wire.

阎实

Yan Shi

1975年出生于沈阳，曾就读于鲁迅美术学院摄影系及厦门大学艺术学院多媒体与综合材料系，现工作及生活于北京，阎实的艺术创作散乱杂芜，并无媒介和材料的壁垒，同时把当下生活的丰富体察深植于艺术史的回望和对话中。直陈式的无言以对或者无以言表，就像是事物自己发出的声音，引领着观者进入未识之地，成为抵达观者内心的入口。

Yan Shi was born in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, in 1975. He studied at the Photography Department of Luxun Academy of Fine Arts and Multimedia and Mixed Media Department at the Art College of Xiamen University. He now lives and works in Beijing. Yan Shi's artistic practice is inclusive and unrestricted by media or materials. Yan's profound observation of contemporary life is deeply rooted in examining, and dialogue with, art historical narratives. His artworks are presented in a straightforward manner, summoning the object itself to speak, and inviting the viewer into the unknown and open- ended exploration.
