C5CNM 将于11月2日至12月1日推出董大为的个人项目《义乌的世界选择》。

2024年11月，美国总统大选即将举行。每逢大选，竞选双方都会从中国义乌采购周边产品，而其订单量在一定程度上反映了候选人的实力和支持度。义乌商家因此能够凭借订单信息预测大选结果，这种现象被称为“义乌早知道”，或“美国大选的义乌指数”。例如，在2016年大选中，义乌就成功预测了特朗普与希拉里的选举结果；今年，义乌也提前预测了拜登的退出。

受“义乌早知道”启发，我将义乌对今年美国总统大选的预测呈现为一个展览项目，通过直观的视觉形式展示义乌生产的竞选商品。作为唯一具备全产业链的制造业大国，中国在经济全球化背景下的角色使得主要国家间的经济脱钩变得不切实际。该展览项目通过追踪电商数据，以间接方式对选举结果进行预测，并最终通过实际结果来检验义乌的预测是否准确。

C5CNM will present Yiwu’s Choice of World, a solo project by Dong Dawei, from November 2 to December 1.

The U.S. presidential election will be held in November 2024, and campaign merchandise for both sides will be sourced from Yiwu, China. The volume of orders for each candidate reflects their support and influence, allowing merchants in Yiwu to predict the winner—an occurrence known as the “Yiwu Knows First” phenomenon, or the “Yiwu Index” of the U.S. election. For instance, in 2016, Yiwu accurately anticipated the outcome between Trump and Clinton, and this year, Yiwu predicted Biden’s withdrawal.

Inspired by “Yiwu Knows First,” I condensed Yiwu’s prediction for this year’s U.S. presidential race into an exhibition project, visually showcasing campaign merchandise produced in Yiwu. As the only country with a complete industrial supply chain, China’s role as a global manufacturing powerhouse underscores that economic decoupling among major countries is impractical in today’s globalized world. This exhibition tracks e-commerce data to indirectly forecast the election outcome, with Yiwu’s predictions to be tested against the final results.

C5CNM是一个地处北京798艺术区的实验性艺术空间。长宽4.75 x 5.25米，挑高 3.5米，它小而独特的空间比例适合艺术家将展览整体视作一件作品去构想。C5CNM的空间本身是艺术家金宁宁的作品，他的空间构想性质类似游戏场抑或舞台，同时具备强烈的个人属性与真诚的开放性。更迭的活动与空间相加形成意料之外的全新感受，从而视觉体验被给予声学的特征。

空间从2019年春天开放以来，已呈现多个当代艺术展览和实验音乐演出的项目，并以“画廊airbnb”的方式与非营利机构及艺术家个体合作。我们希望对开放性的追求不止步于视觉艺术领域。C5CNM是一个可以7天24小时向公众开放的空间，来访者通过扫码发送请求索取当天的电子锁密码，获得随时进入展厅与作品相处权限。

C5CNM is an experimental space located in 798 Art District in Beijing. It measures 4.75 by 5.25 meters and 3.5 meters in ceiling height. Its modest though beautiful proportions invite artists to conceive an exhibition as one singular art work. The spatial design by artist Jin Ningning is a multifaceted and transformational artwork that mixes with the different occurrences that take place within, giving visual experience also an “acoustic” complexity.

Since its opening in Spring 2019 C5CNM has transitioned between exhibition space, live performance venue, and “air b-n-b gallery” for non-profits, and it is open to many more interpretations (functions). We hope this quest for unlimited freedom will attract creative individuals or collaboratives from beyond the field of visual art to produce works. We can not anticipate the forms this may take, but only look forward.
C5CNM is free and open to the public 24/7. Visitors may enter the space by acquiring the electronic lock combination any time of the day or night and are welcome to spend time alone with the work.
