Plane, Composition, Space and Psychology - Jin Yucheng’s View of Painting

金宇澄以富有张力的构图，呈现当代人的情感世界，取材于日常生活，营造心理层面的张力和复杂性，既亲切又疏离，表达了对于城市与现代人性深层思考。

本次论坛以“平面·构成·空间·心理”为主题，邀请嘉宾吴洪亮、邵舒、谢晓冬和艺术家本人一起，畅谈艺术创作，论坛由陈嘉莹主持。

Based on the minutiae of everyday life, Jin Yucheng reveals the emotional world of present generation with his dynamic composition. Jin attaches an aura filled with tension and complexity to his artworks, cordial yet distant, to show out his deep thoughts on urban life and modern humanity.

With the theme of “Plane, Composition, Space and Psychology”, the forum invites Wu Hongliang, Shaw Shu and Xie Xiaodong as guests, to discuss Jin Yucheng's artistic creation with Jin. Jenny Jiaying Chen will preside at the forum.

嘉宾 Guest Speakers

曾名金舒舒，作家、艺术家。1952年生于上海。80年代开始文学创作。曾任《上海文学》执行主编。代表作《轻寒》《碗》《回望》《繁花》等。2012年出版长篇小说《繁花》，荣获第九届茅盾文学奖等重要文学奖项。

《繁花》首次出版期间，金宇澄为小说绘制了20幅插图，自此开始绘画创作。2017至今已在北京、上海、深圳、杭州、香港、台北、新加坡举办多场个人画展。2023年，个人画册《金宇澄：细节与现场》（Jin Yucheng: Stories & Scenes）由英国ACC艺术图书出版社出版；2024年，《金宇澄：细节与现场》繁体中文版由香港中和出版社出版。

Jin Yucheng, previous name Jin Shushu, a writer and artist, was born in Shanghai in 1952. He embarked on his literary career in the 1980s and served as the editor-in-chief of Shanghai Literature. Notable works include Light Chilly, The Bowl, Looking Back, and Blossoms. In 2012 he published Blossoms, which won several prestigious literary awards, including the Ninth Mao Dun Literature Prize.

During the initial publication of Blossoms, Jin Yucheng illustrated 20 paintings for the novel, marking the beginning of his artistic career. Since 2017, he has held numerous solo exhibitions in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Hong Kong, Taipei, and Singapore. In 2023, his art book Jin Yucheng: Stories & Scenes was published by ACC Art Books in UK, with the traditional Chinese edition released by Hong Kong Open Page Publishing Company Limited in 2024.

吴洪亮，全国政协委员、北京画院院长、中国美协策展委员会副主任兼秘书长、北京美协副主席、第58届威尼斯双年展中国国家馆策展人。

吴洪亮是齐白石、20世纪美术史研究专家及具有影响力的策展人。2008年，他参与北京奥运会开闭幕式及公共艺术项目。他参与策划将齐白石的艺术带到匈牙利、日本、列支敦士登、希腊、意大利、德国、拉脱维亚、瑞典、澳门等国家及地区展出，参与组织“策展在中国”论坛、齐白石艺术国际论坛等学术项目。参与策划广州三年展、成都双年展、武汉双年展、艺术长沙、“自”系列展等。2023年，他受邀担任2025年大阪世博会中国馆艺术策展人。

Wu Hongliang is a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, president of Beijing Fine Art Academy, deputy director and secretary general of the China Artists Association Curator Committee, vice chairman of the Beijing Artists Association, and the curator of Chinese Pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennale.

Wu is also known as a research expert of Qi Baishi and art history of the 20th century as well as an influential curator. In 2008, he engaged in planning the opening ceremony, the closing ceremony and public art projects of the Beijing Olympics. Moreover, he was one of the planners that brought Qi Baishi’s artworks to global audience in Hungary, Japan, Liechtenstein, Greece, Italy, Germany, Latvia, Sweden, and Macao(China) through exhibitions. Other academic-related or art-related projects that Wu participated in including “Curating in China” forum, the International Forum of Qi Baishi’s Art, Guangzhou Triennale, Chengdu Biennale, Wuhan Biennale, “Art Changsha” Biennale, “SELF” serial art exhibition, etc. In 2023, he was invited to work as the art curator of Chinese Pavilion at Expo 2025, Osaka.

邵舒，和美术馆执行馆长，长期从事展览策划和美术馆管理工作，曾任职于龙美术馆。主要参与和策划的重要项目有：《超越：安藤忠雄艺术人生》2021；《贝纳维内：单义游戏》2021；《尽精微 致广大—— 徐悲鸿临摹伦勃朗修复研究展》2022；《肖像：张恩利个展》2023；《罗尼霍恩：亦梦非梦》2023，《南方故事》2023等。

Shaw Shu, Executive Director of He Art Museum and worked before at Long Museum in Shanghai. He engaged in the operation as well as research and collection, and curatorial programs. 

He curated or co-curated over twenty exhibitions at the museum including: Beyond: Tadao Ando and Art (2021), Bernar Venet: Another Language for Painting (2021), Woman by the Window of Xu Beihong: A Conservation Exhibition (2022), Zhang Enli: Portrait (2023), Roni Horn: A dream dreamt in a dreaming world is not really a dream ... but a dream not dreamt is (2023), Tales of the South (2023) etc.

谢晓冬，在艺科技及云杪文化创始人，策展人，首都师范大学美术学院硕士研究生客座导师。在艺是中国艺术市场专业的媒体、收藏咨询和技术服务公司，与中国主要的拍卖行、美术馆和画廊开展广泛的线上线下合作。曾主持策划多个有影响力的拍卖项目和展览，如过云楼藏书拍卖、南长街54号梁启超重要档案拍卖、成化斗彩鸡缸杯特展、康雍乾宫廷艺术大展、宋元书画私藏特展、御制唐卡暨永宣文物特展、胡适留学日记特展、梁缨个展、泰祥洲个展、南张北齐—张大千、齐白石书画艺术特展、群星璀璨时—四王吴恽与四僧书画特展 、龙与士—明代中国的书法和绘画艺术特展、“壮游与长歌—莫言/王振书法艺术特展” 、“繁花—金宇澄绘画展”、“璀璨—欧洲古董珠宝的黄金时代”特展等。

Xie Xiaodong is the founder of Zai Art Technology and Yunmiao Culture, and an accomplished curator. He holds the position of a visiting tutor for the Master’s program at the College of Fine Arts of Capital Normal University. Zai Art Technology, under Xie’s leadership, has established itself as a prominent player in the Chinese art market, offering specialized media, collection consulting, and technology services. The company collaborates extensively with major auction houses, art museums, and galleries across China, both online and offline. Throughout his career, Xie has been instrumental in hosting and planning numerous influential auction projects and exhibitions. His notable projects include the auction of Guoyun Lou Ancient Book Collection, the auction of Liang Qichao Important Archives at No. 54 Nanchang Street, the Chenghua Doucai Chicken Cup Special Exhibition, and the exhibition Times of Prosperity: the Imperial Art of High Qing. Additionally, he has curated the Song and Yuan Dynasty Calligraphy and Painting Private Collection Special Exhibition, the exhibition Yongle Emperor’s World: Imperial Thangka and Art Works from the Yongxuan Era [1403-1435] of the Ming Dynasty, and Hu Shi’s Overseas Diary Special Exhibition. Xie’s expertise also extends to individual artist exhibitions, such as Liang Ying’s Solo Exhibition, Tai Xiangzhou's Solo Exhibition, and significant showcases like the Southern Zhang andNorthern Qi: Zhang Daqian and Qi Baishi Special Exhibition, the Era of Brilliant Stars: Masters from Early Qing Dynasty Painting and Calligraphy Special Exhibition, and the Emperor and Literati: Painting and Calligraphy from Ming Dynasty. Furthermore, he has been involved in thematic exhibitions like the Grand Tour and  Long Ballad: Mo Yan and Wang Zhen's Calligraphic Art,  the Blossoms: Jin Yucheng Solo Exhibition and Radiance: The Golden Age of European Antique Jewelry.

哲学博士，现为上海交通大学人文学院博士后研究员、独立策展人与写作者。毕业于华东师范大学外国哲学系，聚焦身体、新唯物论与性别形上学的前沿研究。她近来转向受女性主义与后殖民理论启发的离散美学，也关注艺术理论的在地化实践。与此同时，她将艺术视为颠覆现有可感分治与可知框架的具体手段。她曾供职于没顶公司与Longlati经纬艺术中心，亦曾为多家艺术媒体撰稿。2019年，她以展览“AI：爱与人工智能”获得第三届Hyundai Blue Prize创新未来奖。

陈嘉莹学士毕业于中国美术学院美术学专业，后在英国兰卡斯特大学获硕士学位。其文章收录于《网络化的力量》、《普遍手册》以及由Springer出版的Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence等。她曾参与编写《1998年后的上海当代艺术文献研究计划》。近期策划的项目包括：“张移北：请托钢盔”，Longlati经纬艺术中心（2024）；“威廉·萨斯纳尔：沥青之下”， Longlati经纬艺术中心（2023）；由瑞士文化基金会支持的“百花齐放读书会：半路遇见”，多地多空间（2022-23）；“生物/媒介：缠绕的读书会”， 新时线媒体艺术中心（CAC），上海；USB多端口链接展，上海多空间（2021）；“AI：爱与人工智能”，北京现代汽车文化中心（2020）；哥白尼，E.M.Bannister 画廊，美国普罗维登斯（2019）等。

Doctor of Philosophy. Jenny Jiaying CHEN is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the School of Humanities, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, independent curator, and writer. She obtained her PhD from the Department of Western Philosophy at East China Normal University, focusing on the frontier research of the body, new materialism and the metaphysics of sex. She has recently turned to diaspora aesthetics inspired by feminist and postcolonial theories and is also concerned with the localisation practice of art theory. At the same time, she sees art as a concrete means of subverting the existing partition of the sensible and frames of intelligibility. She has previously worked at MadeIn Company and Longlati Foundation. She has contributed to many art media and won the “Hyundai Blue Prize 2019.”

She holds a BA from the China Academy of Art and received her MA from Lancaster University (UK). Her article was included in Forces of Reticulation and Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence, published by Springer, among others. She also participated in the compilation of the Shanghai Contemporary Art Archival Project 1998-2010. Recent Projects include: “Zhang Yibei: Please No Helmet”, Longlati Foundation (2024); “Wilhelm Sasnal: Under the Asphalt,” Longlati Foundation (2023); “Let 100 Reading Groups Bloom: Meeting Others Halfway”, supported by Pro Helvetia Shanghai, Swiss Arts Council (2022-23); “Bio/Media: Entangled Reading Group,” Chronus Art Center (CAC), Shanghai; “USB Multi-Port connect Exhibition”, multiple art spaces in Shanghai (2021); “AI: Love and Artificial Intelligence”, Hyundai Motorstudio, Beijing (2020); “Copernicus”, E.M.Bannister Gallery of Rhode Island College, Providence (2019).
