Ota Fine Arts Shanghai is currently looking for: Gallery Assistant (Full-time)

Responsibilities:

— Gain knowledge of the gallery's represented artists and become a resource to the team

— Assist with day-to-day gallery operations including visitor management, daily reception, and maintenance of the exhibition area; effective maintenance of the gallery environment, regular organization and documentation, optimization of gallery inventory, organization of gallery materials, etc.

— Assist in exhibition-related matters, including but not limited to, internal and external exhibitions, publications, press, research, logistics, and others

— Participate in the development and promotion of artists to local institutional networks

— Update artwork prices and information onto inventory and ensure it is up-to-date and accurate

— Writing of press releases and assist in the publication of printed collaterals; coordinate media promotion, update and maintain the gallery's social media platform and official website

— Prepare and send sales reports, and sharing of information with all offices

— Proficient in office software, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and SketchUp software is preferred

Working time: Tuesday to Saturday, 9:30-18:00

Requirements:

— Chinese citizens who are interested in long-term development in the art industry and have a career plan

— Bachelor's degree or above, preferably in art; ability to communicate and write professionally in both English and Chinese

— 1-3 years of relevant experience in the art industry is preferred

— Self-management and time management; to apply teamwork and work collaboratively with the Tokyo, Singapore and Shanghai offices; stress tolerance, strong learning and adaptation skills

Ota Fine Arts was established in 1994 in Tokyo. For over 20 years, the gallery has defined itself as being a pioneer of Japanese contemporary art. Since its inception, Ota Fine Arts has promoted various Japanese artists, including internationally-acclaimed Yayoi Kusama, and has been expanding the variety of its artists and their works. In 2012, Ota Fine Arts opened a gallery space in Gillman Barracks, Singapore, to expand its programmes in the region. One of the main goals of Ota Fine Arts is to support and showcase more regional character, originality, and commonality of the Asian cultural belt. The gallery hopes to continue its commitment to East Asian artists, and moreover to organize various collaborations with artists from South Eastern Asia to the Middle East region to convey the new aspect of contemporary art today. The gallery opened a new space in Shanghai in November 2017 to extend its programs further in the region.
