2024年12月3日至2025年1月5日，Fotografiska 影像艺术中心将呈现意大利艺术家皮耶特罗·普里维特拉的最新个展《数字弄臣: 二进制代码中的怪诞狂欢》。本次展览通过艺术家创新的数字拼贴作品，邀请观众探索我们与技术的情感联系，同时以轻松的方式面对围绕人工智能的非理性恐惧。这场由莫妮卡·博尼尼策划、安德烈·巴尔迪尼担任顾问的展览，编织出一幅丰富的怪诞图景，幽默与诡异在此交汇，折射出数字时代中人类焦虑的荒诞本质。

Digital Jester: A Grotesque Carnival in Binary Code is the latest solo exhibition by Italian artist Pietro Privitera, showcasing his innovative digital assemblages. Running from December 3, 2024, to January 5, 2025, at Fotografiska Shanghai, this exhibition explores our emotional connections with technology while playfully confronting irrational fears surrounding artificial intelligence. With Academic Advisor Andrea L. Baldini and and Coordinator and Design Advisor Monica Bonini, the exhibition presents a rich tapestry of the grotesque, where humor intersects with the uncanny, reflecting the absurdity of our anxieties in the digital age.

尽管数字艺术迅速崛起，许多观众仍未意识到它挑战和重塑当代叙事的潜力。本次展览旨在促进人们对艺术与技术关系的深入理解，强调那些被我们视为威胁的事物也可能成为讽刺与创造力的源泉。通过普里维特拉的作品，观众受邀重新思考他们对技术的观点，反思技术作为进步催化剂和焦虑来源的双重本质。

Despite the rapid rise of digital art, many audiences remain unaware of its potential to challenge and reshape contemporary narratives. This exhibition aims to foster a deeper understanding of the relationship between art and technology, emphasizing that what we perceive as threatening can also be a source of irony and creativity. Through Privitera’s work, the audience is invited to reconsider their perspectives on technology, reflecting its dual nature as both a catalyst for progress and a source of anxiety.

Pietro Privitera’s artistic approach, which seamlessly blends high and lowbrow aesthetics, has garnered worldwide attention. This exhibition arises from “a reflection on the true or alleged omnipotence of the digital revolution,” as he describes the series Tritonidi, and seeks to transform serious discussions about AI into a vibrant carnival of ideas. The exhibition not only showcases Privitera’s mastery in digital art but also highlights the importance of embracing the humor inherent in our technological evolution.

通过聚焦皮埃特罗·普里维特拉的三组数字摄影作品，《数字弄臣》以讽刺的方式诠释了当代人对人工智能末日的恐惧。艺术家通过这些作品戏谑那些深信机器将终结人类生活现状的人们的严肃态度。通过展览中的混合生物形象，皮埃特罗·普里维特拉以一种类似现代版《李尔王》中弄臣的方式，嘲弄那些人工智能末日预言的庄重。他的数字拼贴作品将怪诞与荒诞融为一体，把我们对人工智能的忧虑转化为一场黑色幽默的赛博狂欢。

这个展览旨在鼓励观众以游戏的方式探索我们与技术之间的情感关系，用笑声和嘲讽揭示人工智能并不会成为人类的终结：“国王并没有穿什么衣服呀！”

By focusing on three series of digital photographs by Pietro Privitera, Digital Jester offers an ironic take on contemporary fears surrounding an AI doomsday. Through these works, the artist mocks the seriousness of those convinced that machines will bring about the end of human life as we know it.

In "Digital Jester: A Grotesque Carnival in Binary Code", Pietro Privitera mocks the solemnity of AI doom oracles in the same manner the Fool in a modern King Lear’s court might. His digital assemblages blend the uncanny with the absurd, translating our concerns about AI into a darkly humorous cyber carnival.

This collection aims at encouraging the audience to playfully explore our emotional relationship with technology, using laughter and irony to unveil that AI is unlikely to be the end of humanity: the king is naked!

ABOUT THE DIGITAL JESTER PROJECT TEAM

本次展览由皮耶特罗·普里维特拉主导，他的作品以独特地融合数字艺术创作与当代议题评论而闻名。与普里维特拉合作的是学术顾问安德烈·巴尔迪尼和统筹与设计顾问莫妮卡·博尼尼。作为北京大学长江学者讲座教授，巴尔迪尼教授为展览提供了深思熟虑的理论框架。而在上海活跃的建筑师博尼尼则将各个作品融合成连贯的视觉体验。他们通力合作，确保每件作品都能为技术与社会的更广泛对话做出贡献。

The exhibition is spearheaded by Pietro Privitera, whose work is recognized for its unique fusion of digital artistry and commentary on contemporary issues. Collaborating with Privitera are Academic Adviser Andrea L. Baldini and Coordinator and Design Adviser Monica Bonini. Baldini, a Changjiang Chair Professor in aesthetics at Peking University, provides a thoughtful framework for the exhibition. Bonini, an architect active in Shanghai, has synthesized the various pieces into a cohesive visual experience. Together, they ensure that each work contributes to a broader dialogue about technology and society.
