项目介绍
??2025年1月,十位MIT媒体实验室博士将来到深圳,启动为期一个月的驻留项目,期间举办为期一周的学术研讨会,展开科技艺术方向的研究创作与交流共创。
「国际科技艺术驻留与研讨会」项目由深圳市人工智能与机器人研究院 AIRS、科学+艺术联合实验室 SciArt Co-lab,与南方科技大学创新创意设计学院SUSTech School of Design联合主办项目。
十位麻省理工学院媒体实验室 MIT Media Lab博士,他们的研究与实践方向横跨电子工程、计算机科学、人机交互、机械工程、电子纹身、纺织材料、实验音乐、物理技术、可持续发展等等多个领域。

更有全球50+创新者齐聚,来自麻省理工学院、哈佛大学、卡耐基梅隆大学、布朗大学、斯坦福大学、纽约大学、芝加哥大学、普瑞特学院、美国东北大学、德保罗大学、日本东京大学、韩国科学技术院、韩国庆熙大学、香港中文大学(深圳)、南方科技大学、西班牙马德里卡洛斯三世大学、法国未来技术研究所、法国星球研究所、德国马克斯·普朗克研究所等,国内外20+知名高校与研究机构,50+名博士学者研究员将在此期间共聚深圳,进行融合了科研艺术设计工程等领域的跨学科探索,打破科学与艺术的边界,连接美国、英国、法国、德国、西班牙、中国、韩国、日本等多国创意生态。

项目驻留项目期间,包含为期一周的学术研讨会——可拓展性人机交互研讨会(Scalable HCI Symposium),研讨会将于1月6日至1月12日举办。

?? In January 2025, ten MIT Media Lab PhD researchers will arrive Shenzhen to unfold a month-long residency week-long symposium, starting a journey of research, creation and exchanges in the direction of science and art.
The International Tech-Art Residency and Symposium is co-hosted by the Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society (AIRS), the SciArt Co-Lab, and the School of Design, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).
During the residency, the 10 MIT Media Lab researchers will engage in interdisciplinary research and creative practices, spanning fields such as electronic engineering, computer science, human-computer interaction, mechanical engineering, electronic tattoos, textile materials, experimental music, physical technologies, sustainability, wtc.
Additionally, 50+ innovators from over 20 world-renowned institutions—including MIT, Harvard, Carnegie Mellon, Brown, Stanford, New York University, the University of Chicago, Pratt Institute, Northeastern University, DePaul University, the University of Tokyo, KAIST, Kyung Hee University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, SUSTech, UC3M, France’s Institute for Future Technologies, Learning Planet Institute, and Germany’s Max-Planck Institute—will gather in Shenzhen for an international exchange of ideas. This event bridges disciplines across science, art, design, and engineering while connecting creative ecosystems from the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain, China, Korea, and Japan.

1. Pedro Lopes is an Associate Professor in Computer Science at the University of Chicago. Pedro focuses on integrating interfaces with the human body—exploring the interface paradigm that supersedes wearables. These include: muscle stimulation wearables that allow users to manipulate tools they have never seen before or that accelerate reaction time, or a device that leverages the smell to create an illusion of temperature. Research Focus Areas: Human Computer Interaction, Virtual + Augmented Reality, Wearable Computing.
2. David Ramsay is the Assistant Professor in the School of Computing of DePaul University. David earned his PhD in 2023 from the MIT Media Lab as part of the Responsive Environments Group. He studies how the design of ubiquitous tools alter our cognition, with an emphasis on patterns of daily attention. He combines high-quality hardware systems with cutting edge statistical modeling to measure, understand, and improve human experience. Research Area: Human Computer Interaction, Social Aspects of Computing, Next generation Sensing Systems
3. Pedro de Oliveira is an Assistant Arts Professor of Interactive Telecommunications Program and Interactive Media Arts at New York University. Pedro is a Brazilian Artist, Researcher, and Educator, who’s research-driven practice inhabits the chaotic boundaries between digital and physical and tackles the social and political challenges of designing for and living with emerging technologies. Pedro’s work has been exhibited internationally.
4. Eric Pan is the Founder and CEO of “Seeed Studio” and “Chaihuo Makerspace”, as well as the Producer of “Maker Faire Shenzhen”. He is one of the recognized leading figures of the Maker Movement and Maker Culture in China. In 2013, he was selected by Forbes Magazine as “China’s 30 Entrepreneurs Under 30”.
