Media artist — Tony Lim is the leader of PARK8.io, an interactive design group that creates unprecedented digital experiences. Originating in New York, the group is now based in Shanghai, Seoul, and Mexico, operating on a global scale. They strive to break away from conventional spatial design approaches, leveraging cutting-edge digital technologies to organically crossover diverse realms of art.

Recently, their work has been exploring the expansion of expression through virtual and augmented reality. It has been featured as a finalist in the Kaleidoscope VR section at the Cannes Film Festival, an official selection for Beyond Reality 2020 at the Bucheon International Film Festival, and showcased at GUCCI GAOK, BVLGARI (Mexico City), Art Center Nabi, Seoul Museum of Art, Carnegie Hall, Juilliard Opera House, and GDF2019, among others. They have also collaborated with global clients such as the Sony Experience Store in Manhattan, Marvel Experience, Gawker Media, and Starz TV, developing diverse media experiences and custom software that integrate contemporary technologies. Through partnerships with designers and engineers across various fields, they continue to create innovative works.

Marking his highly anticipated Shanghai debut, Dreamscapes stands as a seminal moment in the oeuvre of Tony Lim, the visionary artist whose practice spans Seoul and New York, transcending boundaries across art, fashion, and XR media. Fusing A.I.-driven systems, interactive audiovisual installations, and monumental projections, this multi-sensory exhibition embodies a convergence of technological futurism and profound human introspection.

展览旨在探讨自我感知与艺术起源之间的本体关系，将观众置于身份作为创造者与被创造者之间辩证探索的情境中。Tony Lim表示：“数字媒体是我的画布，像素是我的颜料。”在展览中，他的多媒体作品以实时形式不断演变，动态响应观众的存在，每次体验都独一无二，使每位参与者的感受都成为专属创作。

“Digital media is my canvas; pixels are my paint,” Lim declares. Yet, here, the canvas is alive—unfixed and temporal—where visuals and soundscapes evolve autonomously, responding to the participant's presence in real time. This radical interactivity dissolves the boundary between creator and creation, situating the audience in an ever-mutating nexus of perception and artistic genesis.

In Evolving Canvas, Lim interrogates the ontology of self-representation, deconstructing traditional artistic paradigms to invite a dialectical exploration of identity. Through an A.I. painter that transforms human movement into perpetually regenerating self-portraits, the work positions the participant as both muse and medium, observer and observed. Collaborating with renowned visual artists such as Vakki and Regina Kim, alongside emerging innovators Sanghyuk Lee and Hatshine, Lim dismantles notions of static artistry, presenting a fluid, evolving aesthetic reality where individuality and representation are in constant flux.

Europa Landing Missions, a central installation within the exhibition, expands Lim’s speculative cosmology, transposing participants into the liminal realm of an alien world. Here, the dreamlike landscapes of Europa become metaphors for the subconscious—an uncharted expanse of desire and dissolution. By rendering participants as alien entities within surreal audiovisual symphonies, Lim interrogates earthly constructs of identity, inviting a transcendental surrender to the collective unconscious. The synthesis of real-time visuals and sonic landscapes collapses corporeal boundaries, delivering an experience that is at once sublime and disorienting—an invitation to witness the sublime dissolution of self within the infinite.

In collaboration with Regina Kim, Break and Remake emerges as a meditation on the disintegration and reconstitution of digital artistry. Kim’s intricate digital collage layers are reimagined as luminous, drifting particles, each pixel a testament to artistic genesis. Harmonized with Lim’s real-time audio spectrum analysis, the layers deconstruct and reconstruct themselves, guided by an evolving sonic landscape. This collaboration reveals a recursive process of creation, where the visual and auditory coalesce into a dynamic audiovisual immersion, inviting audiences to inhabit the threshold between destruction and creation.
