Sun Yuan was born in Baotou, Inner Mongolia in 1981, she graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts with a bachelor's degree in 2004 and a master's degree from the Chinese Figure Painting Studio of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 2007. She is currently a teacher and associate professor at the School of Art Design and Media of Shanghai Sanda University, a member of the Shanghai Artists Association, and a member of the Young Artist Salon of the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy. The honorary award winner of the first Liu Guosong Ink Art Award, the silver medal winner of the first and second Nanjing International Art Exhibition, the Shen Roujian Art Fund Award of the Shanghai Art Exhibition, and her works have been exhibited by the China Art Museum, Guan Shanyue Art Museum, Nanjing It is collected by art institutions such as the International Art Exhibition, Beijing Times Art Museum, Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts Art Museum, Zhu Qizhan Art Museum, and Shanghai Youth Art Expo. Sun Yuan left a deep impression on people with her "Fables of the Crowd" series of works. Her ink paintings are widely used in various experimental spaces such as plane and three dimensions, but the most important thing is plane painting. In particular, she has always used traditional media - ink and rice paper to explore contemporary aesthetic experiences. She usefully draws on contemporary image experience and incorporates elements such as printing dots, image scanning, and glass reflection into profound expressions of "group fables" about urban life. She does not simply describe urban life but attempts to reveal a certain inner blind obedience and disorder of urban people from the numerous living beings gathering and dispersing in many public places, thus introducing ink exploration into psychological presentation with sociological significance.
