藝博會｜香港巴塞爾藝術展｜策展角落—趙趙

大未來林舍畫廊將於2025 Art Basel Hong Kong Kabinett帶來《趙趙》，展覽將呈現藝術家趙趙最新的創作作品《草木》系列。藝術家延續著對自我內在的探尋與外在世界的觀察，透過獨特的視角與豐富的藝術語言，以花卉與種子的形象為媒介，打破花卉題材在傳統繪畫中的語境，進一步將「菩提」的東方禪宗哲學思想融入其中，展開對傳統題材的重新詮釋，並揭示『草木』置身於東西文化脈絡下的哲學思辨。

在藝術的發展歷程中，從對花卉忠實樣貌描繪的科學用途，也逐漸成為一種藝術家在花卉中找到與自己相對應的特質，作為其象徵對象的手法。西方繪畫傳統中，熱衷於花朵、草木等植物題材的描寫，可追溯自十六世紀末的歐洲靜物畫家的作品，在描繪花卉綻放艷麗的同時，卻也往往蘊含著生命消縱即逝的寓言。而作品『草木』表現「菩提樹」的生長、開花的生命週期，萬紫千紅的花朵跳脫以往西方傳統寫實的描繪，花朵布滿了結粉般的小點，如同飄散在空氣中的種子。趙趙透過花朵作為借形述意的表徵，以盛開鮮豔花朵表達蓬勃的生命力，而花朵上的「菩提子(Seeds)」除了暗示新生命的開始，也指涉佛教禪宗文化中的「菩提」，象徵著智慧承繼與生命循環的哲學啟示。

Throughout the development of art, the scientific depiction of flowers has gradually evolved into a method in which artists find traits in flowers that correspond to themselves, using them as symbols. In the Western painting traditions, the depiction of plants such as flowers and plants can be traced back to the European still-life painters of the late 16th century. While these works often celebrate the vibrant bloom of flowers, they also frequently contain allegories of the fleeting nature of life. Zhao Zhao’s work "Seeds" depicts the life cycle of the "Bodhi Tree," showcasing the growth and flowering of the plants in a departure from traditional Western realism painting. The flowers are covered with tiny, powdery dots, reminiscent of seeds scattered in the air. Through flowers as symbolic representations, Zhao Zhao expresses the vigorous vitality of life with vividly blooming flowers, while the "Seeds" on the flowers not only imply the beginning of new life but also refer to the concept of "Bodhi" in Zen Buddhist culture, symbolizing the philosophical insights of wisdom inheritance and the cycle of life.

趙趙，1982年生於中國新疆。其作品著重探討個體意識與其所處的社會領域的關係，其運用多種媒介對現實題材以及藝術形態進行轉換，藉由多元的面向，對照其融合傳統與當代的創作，梳理藝術中獨特的脈絡發展，揭示其置身於東西方之間的哲學思辨，及對自身文化血緣的尋源軌跡，使我們總能在趙趙的作品中發現藝術家對傳統文化美學的深刻理解。

Zhao Zhao was born in Xinjiang, China in 1982. He uses a variety of media to transform realistic subject matters and artistic forms, focusing on the relation between individual consciousness and the social sphere in which he lives. From multiple perspectives, his paintings fusing traditional and contemporary elements will be compared, and the unique development of his art will be explored. Furthermore, Zhao’s philosophical thinking, which is positioned between East and West, will be examined, as will his connection to his own culture. In Zhao Zhao’s works, we can always find a profound understanding of traditional cultural aesthetics.
