Inspired by Corinne Beaumier’s poetic series Le fond et la forme, this workshop includes a guided tour first, and then invites participants to explore personal archives through the delicate art of photo papercutting. Participants are encouraged to bring photographs that speak to their personal histories, images tied to family, heritage, and experiences of grief or remembrance.
Using simple yet transformative paper cutting techniques, we will engage with these photographs as material and metaphor. Drawing from Beaumier’s approach, we will carve into the surface of memory, allowing shapes and voids to open space for reflection and conversation. What do we choose to reveal? What do we remove? What do the empty spaces begin to hold?
Each participant will leave with a completed artwork, an altered photograph that becomes both an artifact and a gesture. This workshop offers an opportunity to sit with absence, connection, and the layered stories our images carry, an invitation to look beyond the holes.
Participants should send the picture they wish to cut to Schein space before June 26.
