最初看到王波的作品，是关于“一本书”的系列。他以现成品的书页，通过粘贴的方式，形成了层层的叠压，似乎在预示着某种知识学的意涵，或者将观众视为“阅读者”。在另一方面，王波并不是在刻意地故弄玄虚，他以主观性的色彩涂抹在这些现成品之上，又以覆盖的方式去消解过于严肃的主题，让整个画面欢愉起来，组成了独特的视觉性。

Imagine stepping into a gallery where the journey through Wang Bo's artistic evolution begins with One Book, a captivating series that immediately intrigues with its unconventional approach. Here, Wang Bo transforms ordinary book pages into layered compositions, using a meticulous process of pasting that invites audiences to explore themes of knowledge and interpretation. Wang Bo imbues each piece with a joyful spirit, offering a unique visual encounter that challenges traditional notions of perception and intellectual engagement.

接着的“一格”系列，是某种的时间刻度，只不过王波强化了“覆盖”的意识，并将其转化为色彩的层叠涂层，创造出了“向上堆砌”的空间结构。然而与其说是时间刻度，毋宁说是生命的痕迹。事实是时间本是人类的某种宿命，而证实时间的惟有生命的空间性造物方式。很有意思的是在“一格”系列中所展示的“图”“文”关系，王波说“是一种绘画与诗歌平衡的图景，这种平衡始于精神的平衡，同时消解于精神的平衡”。

Continuing his exploration, the subsequent "One Grid" series unfolds as a temporal exploration intensified by Wang Bo's skillful use of layered coatings. Evoking a spatial sensation of "upward stacking," these artworks transcend mere temporal scales to evoke the subtle traces of life itself. Wang Bo's adept handling of the relationship between image and text within this series creates a balanced tableau where painting and poetry converge, sparking contemplation that resonates deeply within the viewer's spirit.

慢慢地王波将这种手法“模式化”：他在短视频平台上，以“日记体”来随手拍摄周遭的世界，并将这些图像以各种光影来“覆盖”或者“消解”，淡化了对日常生活的如实表达，却刻意形成某种的视觉律动。

As Wang Bo refined his technique, his artistic vision moved to the realm of short video platforms. Through the manipulation of light and shadow, he overlays daily images, crafting a visual rhythm that transcends the mundane and evokes a profound introspection into the essence of daily existence.

事实上，王波对现实题材并不感兴趣，他希望去寻找更加本质的东西，因此逐渐发展出“信物”系列。“信物”与“一本书”的关联，在于它们兼具某种图像性叙事的共性；而“信物”与“一格”的链接，靠的是对空间的有意识营造。不过在“信物”貌似更为抽象性的背后，却是作品对于视觉记忆与心理暗示的唤起，最终触动的是观者的日常经验以及静默情感。

In Wang Bo’s pursuit of deeper truths, he evolves into the Token series, where narrative imagery from One Book converges with the spatial constructions of One Grid. Through construction, these artworks evoke memories, touching upon the viewer's silent reflections and everyday experiences. This thematic exploration culminates in the Shadow Chronicles series of 2022, where Wang Bo amplifies the interplay between motion and stillness in a video-image collage format. Wang Bo creates a narrative juxtaposition that defines his artistic signature.

既然是“触动”，王波想着是否把动静搞大一点，这就是2022年创作的“影记”系列。“影记”系列，似乎是所有系列的某种“集大成”，或者说是特征性“并置”，也更像是视频图像性拼接。王波有特色地坚持了“覆盖”或“叠加”的手法，并将其延展为画面中的空间构造。也在这样的空间结构中，王波创造了属于自己的“元宇宙”——不同于现实世界的虚拟，不同于虚拟世界的现实。

Thus, Wang Bo's technique of covering and layering extends beyond the physical canvas to construct spatial realities that form his distinctive metaverse. Here, art becomes a gateway to explore realms beyond conventional realities, offering viewers an immersive experience that challenges perceptions and deepens their engagement with the visual arts.

Artist  Wang Bo

王波，1985年生于陕西渭南，现工作生活于北京。2010年毕业于西安美术学院油画系，获学士学位。

Wang Bo, born in 1985 in Weinan, Shaanxi Province, currently lives and works in Beijing. In 2010, he graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts with a Bachelor's degree.

赵力，教授、博士生导师、艺术史博士、中央美术学院博士后流动站导师。教育部 “跨世纪人才计划” 入选者，文化部 / 北京市文化产业专家库专家，全球艺术市场研究学会中国分会主席，首届国家教材奖、教育部社会科学奖获得者，北京教学名师。

Zhao Li, Professor, Ph.D. Supervisor, Doctor of Art History, and Postdoctoral Supervisor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Selected for the Ministry of Education's “Cross-Century Talents Program,” he is also an expert in the cultural industry talent pool of the Ministry of Culture and the Beijing Municipal Government. Zhao serves as the Chair of the China Branch of the International Association for the Study of the Global Art Market. He is a recipient of the inaugural National Textbook Award and the Ministry of Education's Social Science Award, and has been honored as a Distinguished Teaching Fellow in Beijing.
