Her works have been exhibited atEspace 8 Paris, Times Art Center Berlin, Shanghai Biennale – City Projects (Qingchi Plan), Shenzhen Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture, Lianzhou Foto Festival, OCAT Shenzhen, Beiqiu Museum of Contemporary Art, Para Site(Hong Kong), Frick Fine Arts Building, University of Pittsburgh, Centro de Cultura Digital (Mexico City), Hua International(Beijing/Berlin), Galerie Continua, and Guangzhou Gallery, among others. She was shortlisted for the 8th Huayu Youth Awardin 2020.

Lea von Wintzingerode studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, and the University of Fine Arts, Hamburg, graduating with a Master of Fine Arts degree under Prof. Jutta Koether in 2016.

In her evocative paintings, Lea von Wintzingerode blends scenes rooted in personal experiences with collective memories, weaving in portraits that reference underground music, pop culture icons, and the enduring influence of écriture féminine, while her sound composition and installation include sound recordings with modular and analogue synthesizers, piano and composing software. Her works reflect the dynamics of contemporary society, exploring the tension between individual identity and the collective social fabric. With fluid, dreamlike compositions, von Wintzingerode portrays characters navigating the challenges of a hyper-connected, overexposed world, caught between isolation and a yearning for community. These ghostly, distorted, and multifaceted figures resist societal norms, embodying a poignant call for solidarity, hope, and reinvention in the face of neoliberalism's isolating forces. By integrating painting with sound art and installation, von Wintzingerode creates immersive environments that engage the senses and provoke critical reflections on temporality, community, and the resilience of vulnerable bodies.
