For this lecture, Liu Pi and Yin Yi, co-founders of SoundFields, will discuss the cultural intentions and practices of the initiative. Through concrete cases and examples, they will examine and reflect on sound practices and research within the contemporary art ecology, including theatrical approaches to sound, instrumental experimentation, improvisational music, and noise art, among others.
They will also introduce their primary responsibilities within SoundFields, which include: reporting and critical writing on experimental music events; conducting in-depth interviews with practitioners and researchers; curatorial planning of offline performance series; and organizing workshops. Additionally, both artists will share how the work at SoundFields has inspired and influenced their own artistic creation and practice.
