2025年11月10日，在“时间流——大卫·克拉耶博和周滔”展览开幕的艺术家讲座中，两位艺术家周滔与大卫·克拉耶博（David Claerbout）共同探讨在技术不断重塑现实的今天，影像艺术中对时间的重构与延展。

On November 10, 2025, at the artist talk for the opening of the exhibition “Flow of Time—David Claerbout and Zhou Tao,” the two artists, Zhou Tao and David Claerbout, jointly explored the reconstruction and extension of time in video art amid the ongoing technological reshaping of reality today.

周滔围绕他的几部核心影像作品，阐述他对影像的物理边界与现实感知的探索。他从摄影机的物理性能出发，揭示技术本身的“盲区”如何成为创作的入口。以索尼A7S3在极暗环境中捕捉不可见物为例，揭示机器的感知能力如何拓展人眼的局限性。周滔拒绝将技术简单视为人体的延伸，更愿意将其看作一种共处：技术不是为了替代人的感知，而是拓展了我们与现实共存的可能。在他的实践中，影像不仅是记录，更是在技术失效处重启另一种观看逻辑，呼应中国传统山水长卷中“虚实相生”的流动结构，在断裂处连接起不同的时空。

Excerpt from Artist Talk: Zhou Tao, The Cloud Collection, 2025-26 ?The Cloud Collection

Focusing on several of his core video works, Zhou Tao elaborated on his exploration of the physical boundaries of imagery and perceptual reality. Starting from the physical capabilities of the camera, he revealed how the technological "blind spots" themselves become entry points for creation. Taking the Sony A7S3 capturing invisible subjects in extremely dark environments as an example, he demonstrated how the perceptual abilities of machines can extend the limitations of the human eye. Zhou Tao rejects the notion of technology as a mere extension of the human body, preferring instead to view it as a form of coexistence: technology is not meant to replace human perception but to expand the possibilities of our engagement with reality. In his practice, imagery is not merely a record but a way to restart another logic of viewing at the points where technology fails, echoing the flowing structure of "interaction between void and solid" found in traditional Chinese landscape scrolls, thereby connecting different times and spaces at the points of rupture.

大卫·克拉耶博将“时间”视为核心创作维度，通过“矛盾并置”与“去叙事”的手法，在作品中构建沉思与毁灭、自然与人工之间的张力，引导观众重新审视技术、真实与时间之间的复杂关系。他致力于剥离电影传统的叙事与对话，摒弃配乐与对白，保留环境中的“见证声”(witness sounds)——风声、鸟鸣、脚步，将电影交还给观看者。除此之外，他更加关注背景而非前景，让远处隐约的声响在静默与冗长中成为一种沉思性的时间体验。

David Claerbout regards "time" as the core dimension of his artistic creation. Through techniques such as "contradictory juxtaposition" and "de-narration," he constructs tensions between contemplation and destruction 

 , nature and artificiality in his works, guiding viewers to reexamine the complex relationships among technology, truth, and time. He strives to strip away traditional cinematic narrative and dialogue, discarding musical scores and spoken lines in favor of preserving ambient "witness sounds"—such as the wind, bird calls, and footsteps—thus returning the film to the viewer. Moreover, he focuses more on the background than the foreground, allowing the faint, distant sounds to create a meditative temporal experience within silence and duration.

尽管创作方式迥异，两位艺术家却指向同一种超越表象的影像哲学：在技术充斥的时代，重新确认身体与感知的立场，在机器的限制与时间的延展中寻找新的话语方式。他们以高度个人化的表达，细致思考身体与技术、自然与社会、历史与未来的多重关系；在艺术本体层面，也以绘画史与图像史为参照，释放图像的多层结构，让观众在沉浸与迷失中重新建立与影像的关联。

Despite their distinct creative approaches, both artists point toward a shared philosophy of imagery that transcends surface appearances: in an era saturated with technology, they seek to reaffirm the position of the body and perception, exploring new modes of expression within the constraints of machines and the extension of time. Through highly individualized expression, they meticulously contemplate the multifaceted relationships between the body and technology, nature and society, history and the future. At the level of artistic ontology, they also draw on the history of painting and imagery as reference points, unveiling the multi-layered structure of images and enabling viewers to reestablish their connection with imagery through immersion and disorientation.

展览将持续至2026年2月10日。
