Li Yousong, born in 1968, lives and works in Beijing, where he currently serves as a Professor at the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication. He graduated from the Department of Mural Painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1992 and received his M.A. from the same institution in 1994. Li has long been dedicated to the practice of pictorial narrative. His work consistently demonstrates a deep concern for history, spanning from the late Qing Dynasty to the contemporary era, attempting to reflect the cultural conflicts and integrations triggered by China's century-long journey into modernization. Rooted in the tradition of Western Renaissance painting, his practice envisions a vast, world-scale realm where aesthetics engage in mutual respect and fusion, rather than strife.
