绘画何为？在图像泛滥、意义飘散的时代，刘正勇的创作始终保持着一种近乎执拗的姿态：他的画布不是现实的再现，也不是情绪的宣泄，而是一处思想的实验场，一场在可见与不可见、形式与生成、历史与身体之间展开的艰巨勘探。
此次春美术馆个展以“高原上的拂晓”为题，是试图捕捉其作品中那种独特的思想地貌与时间状态——它并非一处风景，而是一种精神的拓扑学；并非一个时刻，而是一种存在的临界。

绘画可以是一种严肃的哲思实践，一种不借助文字而创造“概念”的视觉方式。刘正勇所创造的“身体-景观”、“笔触-痕迹”、“时间-物质”，无一不是可以供思想栖居的视觉概念。在这个意义上，他的画室就是他的“思想高原”，每一幅画都是一次在限定条件下（画布边界、颜料特性、身体记忆）进行的实践，旨在探索“人的自由意志永远被赋予无限可能”——如评论家黄笃所总结的那样——这一命题的视觉证据。

What is painting for? In an age of image proliferation and scattered meanings, Liu Zhengyong’s practice maintains an almost stubborn posture: his canvas is not a representation of reality, nor an outpouring of emotion, but a field for intellectual experimentation—a demanding exploration unfolding between the visible and the invisible, form and becoming, history and the body.
Titled “Dawn on the Plateau,” this solo exhibition at Spring Art Museum seeks to capture that distinctive intellectual terrain and temporal condition inherent in his work—not a landscape, but a topology of spirit; not a moment, but a threshold of existence.

Painting can be a serious practice of philosophical thought—a visual method of creating “concepts” without relying on words. The “body-landscape,” “brushstroke-trace,” and “time-matter” conceived by Liu Zhengyong are all visual concepts in which the mind can dwell. In this sense, his studio is his “plateau of thought.” Each of his paintings constitutes a practice carried out under defined conditions—the boundaries of the canvas, the nature of the pigments, the memory of the body—aimed at exploring the visual evidence for the proposition, as critic Huang Du summarized, that “human free will is forever endowed with infinite possibility.”

In Liu Zhengyong’s work, painting invites us to abandon habitual cognitive frameworks and, with all our senses and reflection, approach that“dawn”-like instant—where individual and history, body and spirit, destruction and rebirth, in a highly condensed, intensity-laden visual form, continuously become, confront, and ultimately, illuminate one another.

1980年出生于中国株洲。2004年毕业于天津美院油画系，2011年—2013年受邀在法国德国进行考察和长期创作。2013—2015年受法国美术馆邀请在南法及巴黎进行创作及美术馆个人艺术项目交流，受荷兰阿姆斯特丹全球艺术基金会邀请于意大利威尼斯进行双年展项目交流。
