户尔空间荣幸宣布将于 2026 年柏林艺术周期间，在柏林空间带来由艺术家张培力、阿法瓦多·加尔及大卫·霍维茨共同呈现的展览《仿佛另一个时刻，在同一个地方》，展览将于9月11日开幕。
展览标题取自一位女子描述海声时说的一句话。在塞缪尔·贝克特（Samuel Beckett）1959年为广播而作的“余烬”中，亨利坐在水边，不停说话，好让自己听不见海声。他无法走进海里，也无法离开。身旁的艾达听着：“它像是我过去听过的一种古老声音，仿佛另一个时刻，却在同一个地方。”她描述的并不是水，而是时间回返的方式：它并非被原样记起，也并非被重新找回，而是在当下以改变后的形态再次抵达。广播恰是承载这样一句话的媒介，一段广播，总是从一个时间发出信号，又在另一个时间抵达。展览中的作品也以这样的方式运作：它们重复、漂移、隐而不发，又再度返回。
在“余烬”接近结尾时，艾达回忆起有一次海面十分汹涌，浪花飞溅到他们身上。“奇怪，”她说，“那时海竟那么汹涌，现在却这么平静。”展览就存在于这句话里面：在“那时的汹涌”与“现在的平静”之间，在事件与它漫长的余波之间，也在一个声音与它所携带的诸多时间之间，海声始终在那些声音之下延续，并在声音停止之后继续。
Hua International is pleased to announce Like Another Time, in the Same Place, an exhibition by Zhang Peili, Alfredo Jaarand and David Horvitz, presented on the occasion of Art Weekend Berlin 2026, opening on Friday, 11 September, at our Berlin space.
The exhibition title is a line spoken by a woman describing the sound of the sea. In Samuel Beckett's Embers, written for radio in 1959, Henry sits at the edge of the water, talking so as not to hear it. He cannot enter it and he cannot leave. Ada, beside him, listens: "It is like an old sound I used to hear. It is like another time, in the same place." She is not describing water. She is describing the way time returns, not remembered exactly, not recovered, but arriving again, altered, inside the present. Radio is the right medium for such a sentence. A broadcast is always a signal sent from one time and arriving in another. The works in this exhibition behave this way. They repeat, drift, withhold, and return.
Near the end of Embers, Ada remembers the sea being rough once, the spray flying over them. Strange it should have been rough then, she says. And calm now. The exhibition lives inside that sentence: between rough then and calm now, between the event and its long afterlife, between a sound and the times it carries. The sea continues underneath the voices, and after they stop.

张培力，1957年生于杭州，是中国当代艺术及录像艺术的重要先驱之一。1984年毕业于浙江美术学院（现中国美术学院）油画系，并于1980年代积极参与中国当代艺术的早期实验，曾组织和参与“85新空间”展览及艺术家团体“池社”。1988年创作的录像作品《30×30》被广泛视为中国最早的录像艺术作品之一。此后，他的实践逐渐从绘画拓展至录像、摄影、文字、声音及机械装置等媒介，持续探讨时间、重复、媒介机制以及个体与社会之间的关系。2003年，张培力在中国美术学院创立新媒体系，对中国新媒体艺术教育的发展产生了重要影响。现生活及工作于杭州。Zhang Peili (b. 1957, Hangzhou) is a pioneering figure in Chinese contemporary art and video art. He graduated from the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now China Academy of Art) in 1984 with a degree in oil painting and became actively involved in the experimental art movements of the 1980s, organizing and participating in 1985 New Spaceand co-founding the artist collective Pond Society. His 1988 work 30×30 is widely regarded as one of the earliest video artworks produced in China. Since then, Zhang’s practice has expanded from painting to video, photography, text, sound, and mechanical installation, often investigating temporality, repetition, systems of mediation, and the relationship between the individual and society. In 2003, he founded the Department of New Media at the China Academy of Art, playing an important role in the development of new media art education in China. He lives and works in Hangzhou.

Alfredo Jaar is an artist, architect, and filmmaker who lives and works in New York. His work has been shown extensively around the world. He has participated in the Biennales of Venice (1986, 2007, 2009, 2013), Sao Paulo (1987, 1989, 2010, 2021) as well as Documenta in Kassel (1987, 2002). Important individual exhibitions include The New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York (1992); Whitechapel, London (1992); Moderna Museet, Stockholm (1994); The Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago (1995); and The Museum of Contemporary Art, Rome (2005). Major recent surveys of his work have taken place at Musée des Beaux Arts, Lausanne (2007); Hangar Bicocca, Milan (2008); Alte Nationalgalerie, Berlinische Galerie and Neue Gesellschaft fur bildende Kunst e.V., Berlin (2012); Rencontres d’Arles (2013); KIASMA, Helsinki (2014); Yorkshire Sculpture Park, UK (2017), Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Sweeden (2019) and SESC Pompeia, Sao Paulo (2021).The artist has realized more than seventy public interventions around the world. David Horvitz (b. 1982, Los Angeles) is an artist living and working in Los Angeles. He studied at the University of California and Waseda University in Tokyo, and received his MFA from the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College in 2010. Witty and poetic, Horvitz’s practice engages with systems of language, time, distance, and networks. Moving fluidly between photography, artist books, performance, the Internet, mail art, sound, text, objects, and natural environments, his work examines the distances between places, people, and moments in time. Through strategies of circulation, distribution, travel, and participation, his works often operate independently of the artist, subtly dissolving the boundaries between art and everyday life. His work has been presented at institutions including the Museum of Modern Art and the New Museum in New York, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Pirelli HangarBicocca in Milan, SFMOMA in San Francisco, and S.M.A.K. in Ghent. His works are held in collections including MoMA, LACMA, the Kupferstichkabinett in Berlin, and SFMOMA.

Hua International is a contemporary art gallery located in Berlin and Beijing whose exhibitions, publications, and public programming supports cross-disciplinary and performative artistic practices. The gallery focuses on developing long-term relationships with its represented artists and leverages its geographic bilocation as a means to critically expand how their work can be presented and received in radically diverse cultural contexts.
After two years curating the experimental art and performance project XC.Hua, Xioachan Hua founded Hua International in August 2020 and inaugurated the new gallery with spaces in Berlin’s historic Mercator H?fe and Beijing’s acclaimed 798 Arts District.
